Services · Curly hair

Curly hair in Toronto, cut for how it falls.

Waves, curls, and coils, welcomed as they are. I work with your natural texture instead of against it, in a private one-chair studio at Church and Wellesley.

01 The approach

Your texture is the brief

Curly hair cut like straight hair behaves like a rumour: fine in the chair, different by Friday. The shape has to be built around how your curls actually fall, spring, and shrink, and around your head shape, not a template.

That is how I have always worked. Clients tell me the difference is being listened to: what your hair does on a normal Tuesday matters more than what it does under salon lights. We plan the cut for your real routine, then style it together so you can see exactly how to recreate it at home.

And if you have been straightening for years and are curious what your natural pattern even is anymore, that discovery is one of my favourite appointments to give.

“She's an artist with the scissors, so creative, works with your natural texture, and will give you her expert opinion on what will look best. I get compliments on my hair all the time.”

Evelynn Pine

“I never get the same results with others. I didn't know my hair could be wavy like this until she styled it for me. I always leave the appointment with a smile.”

02 The appointment

Cut, styled, and explained

No. 1

The pattern read

We look at your curl pattern together: where it springs, where it stretches, how it shrinks as it dries, before a single cut is made.

No. 2

The shaped cut

A cut built for your texture and your head shape, designed to grow out gracefully instead of collapsing in three weeks.

No. 3

The styling lesson

Product, order, and technique, demonstrated on your own hair with Davines and Evo, so wash day at home stops being a gamble.

No. 4

Colour, gently

Dimension and gloss planned to respect curl health, because curls show dryness sooner. See the colour page for the approach.

03 Good questions

Before you book

Do you work with all curl types?

Yes: waves, curls, and coils are all welcome in the chair. What changes is the plan, not the welcome. Your consultation is where we read your pattern and shape the cut around it.

How should I arrive for a curly cut?

Come with your hair dry, down, and in its natural state, detangled and without heavy product or a tight ponytail. Seeing your pattern as it truly falls is what lets the cut be shaped accurately.

Can you teach me to style it myself?

That is built into the appointment. We style your hair together at the end, and I walk you through the products and the order to use them, so the result you leave with is one you can repeat.

I've straightened my hair for years. Is it too late to go natural?

Not at all. Many clients start exactly there. We can transition gradually with shaping cuts that keep things looking intentional while your natural pattern grows in and reveals itself.
