A hair salon in the heart of Church-Wellesley.

Bohem Dreme sits on Church Street in Toronto's Village: a private, one-chair studio on the top floor of BSH Toronto, a few doors south of The 519 and Barbara Hall Park.

01 The Village

One of Toronto's storied streets

Church-Wellesley is Toronto's LGBTQ2S+ village, centred on Church Street. It is a neighbourhood built by community: The 519 community centre and Barbara Hall Park, home to the Toronto AIDS Memorial, sit a short walk north of the studio at 519 Church, and every June the street becomes the joyful centre of Pride.

It is also simply a great downtown neighbourhood to spend an afternoon in: cafés, bookshops, patios, and people-watching of the highest order. A hair appointment here tends to become the anchor of a small Village outing, which is exactly how it should be.

Above the street, the studio is the opposite of the bustle. One chair, a locked door, and quiet. Clients tell Steph the contrast is the point: the Village for energy, the chair for calm.
